Global health challenges like genetic disorders, infectious diseases, nutritional deficiencies, and non-communicable diseases require innovative, interdisciplinary solutions. By bridging science and engineering, SYMRESEARCH 2.0 aligns with the philosophy of Symbiosis – “वसुधैव कुटुंबकम्” (The World is One Family) – and resonates with the national theme of “One Earth, One Family, One Future,” supporting 12 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Under the theme ‘Bioengineering for Global Health’, this conference will focus on using bioengineering innovations to tackle critical health challenges. From diagnosis to treatment, the event will foster collaborations among scientists, medical practitioners, regulatory bodies, and students worldwide.Key research areas include personalized medicine, microbial research, public health interventions, and climate-related health challenges. SYMRESEARCH 2.0 aims to spark long-term research collaborations, inspire innovations, and contribute to global health equity.

In line with this ethos, SYMRESEARCH 2.0 under the theme ‘Bioengineering for Global Health’ seeks to explore the Symbiosis between Science and engineering which can spark breakthroughs in the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions. The idea is to address key global health challenges using bioengineering solutions translating scientific research from bench to clinic.

SYMRESEARCH 2.0 will bring together eminent scientists, industry experts, medical practitioners from both public and private organizations and from across diverse geographies, members of regulatory bodies, and students for collaborative brainstorming sessions, focused on identifying research gaps and advancing national and global health initiatives in personalized medicine, microbial research, public health and environment including climate change, biomedical imaging, tech-enabled healthcare and other emerging fields in bioengineering. This multidisciplinary forum aims to foster collaborations, inspire innovations, encourage knowledge creation and dissemination, potentially leading to the generation of innovative ideas within the thematic research areas and identify practical bioengineering solutions to enhance healthcare outcomes. SYMRESEARCH 2.0 is anticipated to open opportunities for establishing long-term research collaborations both nationally and internationally.

Our theme, Re-engineering Health - Re-defining Health - Empowering Lives encapsulates our commitment to leveraging cutting-edge bioengineering solutions to empower lives and redefine the future of health.

Day 1:- Pre-Conference Workshops

The pre-conference workshops would aim to showcase the current research landscape in the chosen disciplines including capacity building initiatives. These workshops will be conducted in a ‘hands-on’ experimental setting in which participants will actually conduct experiments or see demos - as deemed fit in each individual workshop.

Each workshop will be conducted from 2.00 pm to 6.30 pm on the penultimate day of the Conference on 18th Sept 2025 Registrations for each workshop will be limited and will be on a first come first serve basis.

The 5 workshops are as follows:

  1. Stem Cell Biology from Basics to Applications
  2. Nanoscience and Nanotechnology: Advancing Healthcare, Energy, and Environmental Solutions.
  3. Introduction to quantitative Magnetic Resonance Imaging: Image acquisition and processing techniques
  4. Tech-Enabled Healthcare
  5. Fundamentals of Research

Day 2 & 3:- GENERIC CONCEPT NOTE ON TRACKS

For the main conference, there will be 5 parallel tracks mention below:

  1. Personalized Medicine
  2. Microbial Research
  3. Biomedical Imaging
  4. Environmental Engineering for Public Health
  5. AI for Healthcare

All the tracks will align with the relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030. Each track will have sessions as specified in the track details above.

Each track will run for a total of 8.5 hours over the period of two days. Each track will follow a similar structure of oral presentations and plenary sessions as specified in the structure above. Within each track, there will be two plenary sessions (one on day 2 and one on day 3) within each track. These will be delivered by eminent speakers in each track-domain/topic. There will be two poster sessions, one on each day.

Further the total number of presentations in each track will be 35 (2 plenary + 3 invited + 29 oral presentations + 1 crystal gazing).  In addition, there will be 2 keynote addresses which will be common to all the tracks. Hence, the total number of presentations over 2 days will be 177. The oral presentations will be done based on the accepted abstracts based on original research submitted for the conference. All oral presentations will be considered for publication (after standard peer review process). SIU will initiate contacts with journal publication houses to accept and publish conference proceedings.

Each track will have a crystal gazing session on emerging trends and scientific advances within the track theme on Day 3.

Finally, there will be a common awards ceremony and a valedictory function.
